Some Girls Wander Off Indefinitely...

As you probably suspected, I'm going to officially take an indefinite break from keeping this little blog up. With a big move ahead, lots of paintings and dolls itching to be made...I just don't have time or energy for it right now. The blog itself with remain as is for the foreseeable future, though, so feel free to visit once in a while and go through the archives if you'd like!

I'll see you some time soon, when we're both out in the forest of beautiful clothes.

Perfectly Worn

Some_girls_2454

These were my big boot-purchase of last Winter, and I have to say, they've only gotten more appealing with more scuffs and weathering.
It should also be noted that I fail to see Spring and Summer as reasons to put the boots away, so we'll see how they play with the warm-weather clothes!

New Anthro Pretties

I think everyone knows that I often have little/no use for Anthro in the Spring/Summer months. As much as I bludgeon my bank account in the Fall and Winter over there, I feel like it gets a little too preppy and crisp and big-floral-y in that neck of the woods for my particular proclivities. But I was poking around today and found a few things I love:

Anthro1
Anthro2

Anthro4

Actually, now that I'm looking at them together, they might make for a very quirky-sweet outfit!

Skirts of the Earth

Bracelets
I fall in and out of love with my small collection of bangles. The "E" one, some die-hard readers might recall, is from this post here.

The new one, with a cryptic message on it, was purchased in Portland at the incredible Flutter, which is a perfect Emily-store if ever I've seen one. It's from a local lable called Frocky Jack Morgan, and I love what it says (the mystery is part of the wonderful-ness).

Very cool.

Fairy of the Sea and Gravel

Some_girls_2368
Sometimes I think about dressing in terms of a story or a place/environment. Monday, I thought I would assemble these three kind of unexpected pieces (silk blue slip-dress, gravelly knitted camisole, and silver vintage slip) and see how it worked...

Fairyclose
And voila! By their combined transformative powers, I became very fairy-like indeed.
Or at least like a Medieval maid.
But the kind with liquid eyeliner.

Ecco Echo

Some_girls_2318
Remember the hotly debated flats from a few weeks ago?
Well, I went with the Eccos, and they are fantastic. They are this beautiful patent-nail-polish-bright-rich-red that makes me happy every time I look down at my toes. Plus, I bought them just before our trip to Portland so I could hoof it around the city all day and still be comfy, and they fit the bill just right.

A+

The Diamond Sea

I found this pretty vintage brooch on Etsy, and I couldn't get it out of my mind. Try as a might, it was hooked into my imagination...so, at long last, I made it my own.

I wore it a few days ago with a dress I got in Portland at Seaplane, made by Prairie Underground. I love the combination of fabrics and the enormous pockets (if only I was good at skippin' stones, it would be the perfect dress for gathering them).

Perfect Summer Dress

My eyes kinda fell out of my head when I saw this jersey dress from Stewart + Brown...I mean, it looks like many of my girls' dresses (like her, or her) because it has a peter-pan collar, but dropped down from high on the neck.

This (to me) makes it more grown-up and enticing, and hey! It's jersey. My favorite fabric for a dress (excepting maybe silk). I've got to admit that this dress is already mine...it came in the post about a week ago. While a bit on the pricey side for a jersey dress, it is so beautifully made and the organic cotton is soft as a kitten.

Perfect, perfect.
I'm already projecting it will attain wear-once-a-week status in the impending warm months.

Red Pinafore Day

Thanks for all the help with the flats. I'm expecting the red Ecco's at my doorstep at any moment, and if they fit nicely, I'll have to consider the grey ones!

This pinafore-sun dress is so darn pretty. I replaced the cheapy nylon ribbon that was plaguing the front (it's from Forever 21) with a pretty crimson velvet one.

I thought the sleeve detail looked so pretty with the lace sleeve of the blouse I wore underneath.

The Perfect (Almost)Flat

I have begun my annual quest for almost-flats that are both comfy and cute (and fit a few other criteria). I just don't wear flats in the Winter-time very much, I think of them as a spring/summer thing...I guess the "ease" of them seems Summery.
I used to be (as many of you probably also were) a devotee of the great $7 China-flat, but the lack of any support and their tendency to look disgusting quickly has made me increasingly look elsewhere for the past few years. That's not to say if I found a black pair that was wide enough for my hobbit feet I wouldn't snap them up, but right now I'm looking for some considerably "real"-er shoes.

I found these yesterday whilst poking around Zappos:
7769538266p
9755626083p

They're from Ecco, surprisingly...they're so sleek and elegant to me.
They also fit an important criteria for 99.9% of flats: they have a mary-jane strap...important not only for the cute-factor, but for the more vital "these-will-actually-stay-on-my-feet" factor.

I also ran across this pair of slightly-chunkier and more elfin shoes, that my pal Sara happens to own (so I can attest they are so very cute in real-life, too):

9755360771p
These are made by Clarks (again, so much cuter than you'd expect from the brand!)

I think I'm going to go with the Ecco's...but the problem now is whether to get red or grey? I love the idea of a grey shoe, and they're very hard to come by...but red is like my neutral.
Hrrm. Maybe both.
